Felt lion

True to form lately, my next project is made of felt. I buy almost all of my felt from Felt on the Fly on Etsy. She sells 100% Merino wool felt and it’s beautiful to work with. Felt is lovely to work with, early because you never have to worry about fraying like you do with cloth fabric.

The best way to cut out patterns in felt is to trace the pattern onto the paper side of freezer paper and iron the shiny side down onto the felt.

The one thing you absolutely need is a good, sharp pair of scissors. They need to be sharp enough to cut through the felt cleanly but aren’t so precious that they can’t be used on paper (like your fabric scissors). I ended up ordering a new pair of scissors since the old pair was raising a blister. Not cool.

The new scissors worked like a charm! My plan was to work on the lion next week whilst I’m on vacation. That was the initial plan. But then I had an idea that is drawing me in more than the lion. It’s inspired by some of Sue Spargo’s work that I saw on Pinterest and it’s yelling louder than the lion is. Here’s a little taste…

Have a good week!
